“Uteach recruitment is working in partnership with The Healthly Lifestyle project – Aiming Higher in Malawi to send 5 Scottish student teachers to Malawi for 3 weeks, in July 2013, to train local educators.”
Here’s a little bit from the project brief to give you some insight into the project:
This is a Partnership between The Healthy Lifestyle Project and U-Teach Ltd to support delivery of a series of Teacher Training workshops; on location in Malawi, covering the curriculum subject areas of Physical Science(Chemistry & Physics), Biology, Mathematics, and literacy/primary.
A Series of 5 day workshops which increase knowledge and understanding and practical skills of teaching and learning.
Anticipated Outcome: (Effects and changes as a result of outputs)
Increased numbers of Malawian teachers with quality skills, confidence and ability to teach curriculum subjects; resulting in improvement in teaching and learning; hence a measurable increase in examination performance/success at Junior Certificate Examination (JCE – form 2) and Malawi School Certificate (MSC – form 4), especially for girls.”
